What does postpartum night doula support look like?
The role of a doula at night is baby care and mom support (if needed). If the mom is nursing her baby, the doula can help with nursing if needed. The doula will change, settle and put the baby back to sleep when the mom is done feeding. The doula can also bottle feed or wake mom up to pump.
Why have a postpartum doula?
A postpartum doula can help parents in several ways during the weeks and months following childbirth. Their primary role is to provide emotional, physical, and informational support to aid families in adapting to their new roles and the responsibilities that come with them
What is the difference between postpartum night doula support and a doula?
The postpartum doula’s role is to support everyone in the family, including mom, dad, siblings, and baby. Unlike a night nanny, whose sole focus is the new baby, the doula is there to support mom through the postpartum period and to help the family as a whole.
How many hours do I need?
It's really up to you! Every family has different needs and some baby's can require a little extra especially if there are multiples. Those first few weeks home from the hospital can be a tender time for everyone. A package could look like three overnight shifts which is at least 8 hours and three day shifts which is a 3 hour minimum.
